The climate in San Luis Obispo is tempered by marine air flowing directly into the valley from the Pacific Ocean. High temperatures average 80 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. The Edna Valley is East of the Pacific Ocean, enough to escape much of the heavy coastal fog, however daily light cool ocean breeze can be expected. This cooling influence creates an unusually long growing season resulting in greatly intensified variety of flavors. Annual rainfall is between 15" and 30" per year. The rainy season occurs from October through April. The average frost free season ranges from 250 to 325 days depending on location.
